Honestly?
I had to turn a blind eye - or rather a ton of blind eyes - to the plot and the writing and everything else in order to give 2 stars at all.
In the end only the fact that this story is part of the Don't Read in the Closet-event is the reason for 1.5 stars rather than 1.
Because the plot is utterly boring. The writing and characterisation are two dimensional, and frankly, don't feel very elaborate.
My worst fiend in books regarding the writing style is the same sentence structure over and over again. And repeatedly starting consecutive sentences with the same pronoun - which really does make it seem like reading a summary...

The fact that neither plot nor character development were exactly gripping definitely didn't help. I can deal with some wobbly writing if those make up for that.
But nope... So. Overall, a disappointment.
