Bad Idea was something like a roller coaster ride for me. It went up and down, and up and down again. At times it was a strong 4-stars-read, at others it was barely a weak 3-stars-read. Which is why I'm finding it quite difficult to rate this book...
Damon Suede sure knows how to write. His chatacters were unique and palpable, real and authentic in the sense that they were funnily dorky and flawed.
Of course, then there were times, long patches of times, in which I wanted to hit either one of them over the head, repeatedly, I was so frustrated with them.
At other times, though I was way less invested in the story and was rather bored with the whole plot (un)development...
Well, there were always these vastly creative and (un-intendedly?) wierdly humorous synonyms for "dick": veiny snake, schlong, salami, fat meat, pecker, beast... you name it.
Suede is similarly inventive when it comes to the word "cum"- briny nectar being just one example.
This, at least, made it a curious read, even though rather in the sense of funny bewilderment.... So there's that.
Overall, rounded up to 4 stars.
